Your 24-week learning path

  1. Weeks 1–4

    Reading and writing

    Hiragana, katakana, pronunciation, greetings, numbers and self-introduction.

  2. Weeks 5–12

    Basic grammar (N5)

    Verbs, adjectives, particles and everyday vocabulary to build simple sentences.

  3. Weeks 13–20

    Toward N4

    N4 grammar, about 300 kanji and 1,500 words, reading and listening practice.

  4. Weeks 21–24

    Exam and workplace

    Mock exams, test strategy, and the Japanese you will use at work and in daily life.

About the tests

The JLPT is held in many African countries, usually in July and/or December. JFT-Basic is a computer-based test held more often in some countries. We help you choose the right test and date.
